Types of Cookies and Technologies We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
The Share2Care mobile application only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for the secure operation of the service.
The only browser cookie used is the NHS Login session cookie, which is created and managed by NHS Login during the authentication process. This cookie is stored securely by your device’s operating system and is used solely to maintain your secure NHS Login session for up to 60 minutes, in accordance with NHS Login requirements. This helps prevent unnecessary re-authentication while your session remains active.
This essential cookie is required to:
- Authenticate your identity through NHS Login.
- Maintain your secure login session.
- Protect the security and integrity of your account and the service.
The Share2Care mobile application does not use any non-essential cookies, advertising cookies, marketing cookies, or third-party tracking cookies. It also does not store sensitive, personal, or health-related information in browser cookies or browser cache.
Because the NHS Login session cookie is strictly necessary for the operation of the service, it cannot be disabled independently. If you choose to block or disable this essential cookie through your device or browser settings, you will not be able to sign in to or use the Share2Care application.

Analytics information is anonymised or aggregated.

These technologies help improve user experience by remembering preferences and supporting accessibility features.
This may include:
- Accessibility settings

Third-Party Services
The Share2Care app uses a limited number of trusted third-party service providers to support the secure operation of the service. These providers may deliver services such as cloud hosting, secure user authentication through NHS Login, system security and mobile notifications.
These organisations process information only on our behalf or where required to provide their service, and they are contractually required to protect personal information and comply with applicable UK data protection legislation.
The Share2Care mobile application does not permit third parties to place advertising, marketing or analytics cookies on your device. Apart from the essential NHS Login session cookie required for secure authentication, our third-party service providers do not use cookies or similar technologies within the app to track your activity or for advertising purposes.
We do not allow third parties to use personal information processed through Share2Care for advertising or marketing.

- Device permissions
- Accessibility settings
- Storage permissions
Disabling some technologies may affect app functionality.
Data Protection and Privacy
Any personal information collected through cookies or similar technologies is handled in accordance with the Share2Care Privacy Notice and applicable data protection laws, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
